Having left NYC to study in Pittsburgh, Arnav threw himself into college radio, hosting a beloved show on local station WRCT 88.3. By night, Arnav became familiar with the energy and music of cult underground parties such as Hot Mass, a raucous queer event that showcased a diverse range of international DJs, as well as fostering a vital sense of community. Returning sometime later to New York, Arnav joined the creative team for cult party Hot N’ Spicy in 2017, applying the same values on the dancefloor. Focused on showcasing POC DJs and producers in a freshly reinvigorated scene, Arnav’s own selections of dubstep, mutant garage, and charismatic techno were the high-energy compliment to early appearances by like-minded selectors such as DJ Swisha.
In Berlin, Arnav quickly found themselves appearing on lineups with the likes of CCL and Peder Mannerfelt, his dexterous technical skills and laser-focus selections breaking sharply through the monochrome of the city’s sometimes predictable techno aesthetic. This same energy is generated throughout Arnav’s illuminating Refuge Worldwide show, ‘Bangers and Mash’, which deftly oscillates between irresistibly cheeky club bangers and complex electronica.
Refuge Worldwide has also championed Arnav as part of its international touring schedule. Arnav made an appearance on its stage at the Sublimation Festival in Uzbekistan, while other dates in India and his native USA have kept Arnav beside the bass bins and in constant creative motion.
